Something for Everyone Close to Pittsburgh

West Virginia just gets it! This park is a Marshall County park with a nice mix of outdoor amenities, well kept grounds, and reasonably priced housekeeping cabins that can accommodate couples or large family gatherings. Two of us stayed for one night in a one bedroom tree house. It exceeded our expectations. The little hot tub was very clean and the chemicals just right (we have our own hot tub, and it is rare for us to use a public hot tub). Sitting on the deck, overlooking the woods, enjoying the tub was lovely. Nicely furnished with very comfortable bedding, and a well stocked kitchen and bath. The only thing we needed to bring was food.

We hiked the well-marked trails, and used the provided dry firewood for a campfire. We also enjoyed lunch at the Grill and a trip to the ice cream shop. There are activities for the entire family to enjoy like mini golf, swimming, frisbee golf, mountain biking, bird watching, and an impressive adventure park with a ropes course, trampoline, rock wall, zip line, and canopy tour zip line. The guides at the adventure park are patient and knowledgeable, and the park staff super accommodating. I hope to go back sometime with extended family to stay overnight in the cabins and enjoy the park, as well as some of the unique attractions in Moundsville, like the Palace of Gold and the historic WV State Penitentiary.
